Art and Ornament: Miniature painting from South Asia

What is ornamentation? How is it different from “art” and what can we learn from the ornamentation that craftspeople added to objects like weapons and clothing? Learn about the different types of ornamentation on South Asian objects in the collections at ROM, and what the designs signify.

Participants will be guided through drawing exercises that will deconstruct the various designs and will be able to better understand and appreciate the ornament from the past to today.
