Crafting Moments: Stereographs of India

June 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Free

Join Royal Ontario Museum’s (ROM) workshop to explore 19th-century photos with old equipment and learn how they changed travel photography today.

How do we photograph our travels? What do we want to remember, and why? This workshop takes a close look at nineteenth century stereographs, which were photographs that when viewed through a device called the stereoscope, produced a three-dimensional image. We take a close look at these images to better understand why these images were created and what effect they have had on images of South Asia today.

This workshop includes a presentation, collections and objects from ROM and presenter’s collection, including stereographs, stereoscope, View-Masters and View-Masters reels.

Presented by The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

*After the program, join us for a tour of the Digitization Lab at Hazel McCallion Central Library.
