Pics Alive and Ari Momeni invite you to share the adventure of their next show …

From Coast to Coast,

the Canadian journey!

Experience the grandeur of this vast country while warming to the many peoples who weave the social fabric of our communities. Vicariously enjoy the many scenes and moments from across Canada which inspired these photographers, painters, artists, and sculptors.  Hanging in the gallery of Pics Alive, at The Promenade Mall in Thornhill all of July, the show may be viewed from 10 am to mall closing seven days a week. Opening Reception is Thursday, July 17, at 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

Their art is a universal language reflecting the indominable spirit of this magnificent country.  From uplifting vistas to iconic moments, these pieces and their impact as a curated selection are a strong declaration of … this land’s for you and me!”

A pool of 15 artists from several regions, counties, and the GTA had work selected for this show that reverberates with their pride in and love felt for Canada.

Photographers: Don Ablett from Georgetown, Frank Myers and (NJ) Andrzeji Pradzynski of Burlington, Katie Wyse of Cambridge, and ecmunson from Brampton. Myers explains that … In my landscape work, I particularly love the magic that happens when land, sky and water meet.” NJ’s eclectic background includes film and digital photography, with particularly dramatic images from his studio work and moody landscapes, both urban and rural.  Wyse poignantly comments that, In my work, I reflect on the beauty of nature and the wonder of simplicity”. Munson shares that, I chase the light, nature’s paintbrush, for those posited moments;  fragile and precious truths to capture” – which can be seen in her landscapes and candid portraitures.

Mixed Media artists: Karen Brown of Erin, who works with encaustic techniques, and MaryLou Hurley of Caledon, a mosaic and stained glass sculptor and artist.  Brown explains that … “Encaustic is an ancient beeswax based paint which is applied and heated to create rich layers of unique depth and luminosity.  My work aims to create imagery and sensations of colour and movement with a hint of mystery.”  Hurley, as a mosaic artist, works with an artistic expression that is centuries old.  Her approach ‘establishes visual flow using traditional techniques’ … “but as a contemporary artist, I relish breaking free from classical rules. The sheer joy of discovering new textures, colours, and possibilities of mixed media, fuels my passion for artistic expression.”

Painters: Leo Dias of Mississauga and Sherry Park of Brampton are both avid Plein Air enthusiasts.  Dias works primarily with acrylics specializing in landscapes, portraiture of people and a riveting series of endangered species.  Equally versatile, Park is renowned for her work with oils, both portraiture and landscapes.

Other creatives in the show include, Katie Tofigh, Reza Eslami, Samantha Grieve, Veronica Hovhannisyan, Richard Johnson, and Ari Momeni.

Fine Art in several media greets visitors to PICSALIVE, a Toronto area boutique specializing in large format printing and wall art, which has its studio and showroom in Thornhill’s exclusive Promenade Mall.  Their in-house gallery hangs monthly exhibits from regional artists with salon style events, both walk-in and ticketed, for the public.  From holiday celebrations to the stay-cation of your life, there is always much to discover at Pics Alive.

Karen Brown shared a quote – “It’s not art until it becomes personal.”  At Pics Alive, visual changers, Ari Momeni has made From Coast to Coast, a Canadian journey!  very personal and for all of us to share.
