(NOTE: We have 16 open mic slots available. If there are over 16 requests, the performance list will be based on a random draw of those who sign up. Each poet can perform 1 poem, 3 mins max.)
Feature bio: Qurat Dar was the City of Mississauga’s third Youth Poet Laureate and a Canadian Individual Poetry Slam National Champion. Her work has appeared in Room, Arc, and Canthius, as well as the Art Gallery of Mississauga, the Bradley Museum, and across the TTC network. Qurat was a recipient of the Mississauga Arts Council’s Emerging Literary Arts Award, the Ron Lenyk Inspiring Youth Arts Award, and a Best of the Net finalist. Non-Prophet is her first book of poetry, for which she received the inaugural Claire Harris Poetry Prize, forthcoming with Goose Lane Editions September 2025.
