Coming Making Workshop – lines between things

Sunday, May 17th 1:00pm to 3:00pm
AN1 Studios, 2465 Cawthra Rd. Unit 132, Mississauga, ON
As part of the lines between things exhibit, we offer a participative, inclusive “art and story” experience designed for communities to reflect, co-create and share. Through a facilitated workshop, led by artists Sharada Eswar and Aine Schryer-O’Gorman, participants will explore stories about the various borders – literal and metaphorical – that people cross in their lives.
Using comics as a medium, participants will bring the theme of borders and border crossings to life. No prior experience of comic making is required. All art supplies will be provided. Participation is free (though donations are welcome) but registration is required due to limited availability of space.
Email info@jumbliestheatre.org or admin@sawitri.ca to register.
About lines between things
lines between things is an immersive, multimedia exhibition of comics, sculpture and audio art created in collaboration with community members.
Originally co-curated by Anahita Dehbonehie, Sharada Eswar and Áine Schryer-O’Gorman, the exhibit was part of Jumblies’ larger multi-disciplinary project – blue skies, red earth & tall pines. The project is born out of a desire to engage with narratives and stories about borders and the crossing of borders. With storytelling as our compass, we journey through the intricate web of physical, metaphorical and spiritual borders. In the intimate narratives of community members crossing visible and invisible borders, we find echoes of shared humanity and a universal language that resonates across communities and continents.
Al the work presented in the exhibit are created through Jumblies practice of community-artist collaboration, with community participants deeply involved in the design and creation of the work
