From Bush to Brew: Foraging + Natural Dye Workshop

June 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
$6.85

Explore Indigenous plant knowledge, foraging, and natural dyeing with Cathie Jamieson. Create a dyed textile to take home.

Indigenous Land-Based Knowledge
Led by Cathie Jamieson, this immersive workshop invites participants to learn about the many uses of foraged plant materials through an Indigenous and land-based lens. Drawing from traditional knowledge and contemporary practices, Cathie will introduce participants to a range of gathered materials and discuss their uses in dyes, paints, teas, medicines, food, and other forms of making and care. Participants will explore examples of plants and natural materials such as cedar, pine, sumac, flowers, roots, berries, and other locally gathered materials, learning about respectful harvesting practices and the relationships between land, material, and community.

Dye a Bandana, Handkerchief or Pocket Square
The workshop will culminate in a hands-on natural dye activity, where participants will create their own dyed textile piece using plant-based pigments and processes. A handkerchief, scarf, or pocket square will be provided for each participant to dye and take home.
