Pinhole Photography Workshop with Risa Horowitz

Join Risa Horowitz in an exploratory photography workshop. Participants will create pinhole cameras using recycled materials and capture their own images using their handmade cameras. This workshop will take place at PAMA and Alton Mill Arts Centre.
Workshop Schedule
10 a.m. – Meet at PAMA and build pinhole cameras. You will have the opportunity to view the work Alton Mill Dam on display on the exterior banners.
12 to 1 p.m. – Travel time from PAMA to Alton Mill Arts Centre. If you do not have transportation, please let us know and we will look into carpooling opportunities.
1 to 4 p.m. – Upon arrival at Alton Mill Arts Centre, you will have time to eat lunch (there is a small café or you can bring your own lunch). Then we will make and develop photographs using pinhole cameras.

• Public: $40 +HST, Members: $34.80 +HST
• Ages 18+
• Please bring a small cardboard box (no larger than about 7″x7″x7”) or a clean and dry soda can (bring several if you wish!). All other materials and supplies are included with the workshop fee.
• This workshop will use photographic chemistry. Standard safety precautions will be adhered to. Close-toed shoes are required, and practical clothing is recommended.
• The workshop is not recommended for people who are pregnant, have chemical sensitivities, or have respiratory conditions. If you do wish to participate, accommodations can be made during the chemical development of the photos.
About the artist: Risa Horowitz is an artist and educator based in Saskatchewan. She often engages durational practices that pay attention to time and its representation, spanning a range of media including creative writing. Horowitz’s art is in the public collections of Global Affairs Canada, the Canada Council Art Bank, and is on permanent display in Canadian Embassies around the world.
Risa’s work is on display on the exterior banners at PAMA from May to October.
