Feature bio: Scarborough born poet, emcee and arts educator, Joshua “Scribe” Watkis, has devoted himself to extracting the essence of his experiences; turning them into words worth their weight in feeling. The Canadian Poetry Slam Champion has authored two chapbooks (Tethered and Black Blossom/Harsh North); and collaborated with The FOLD on Audible’s first Spoken Word Audiobook: Power In Poetry; Moods That Move. Beyond the contribution of his own poetry, Scribe co-curated and hosted ‘The Old Black Maple’, for the NAC’s debut Hip-Hop Theatre Festival. Most recently, he released his EP, SCENE IN CIN, available for purchase on Bandcamp.
