Taranta is a fierce ensemble dance work choreographed by Frog in Hand’s Artistic Director Colleen Snell. It weaves an abstract narrative through compelling imagery, celebrating female power with a gestural language that is grounded, precise and explosive, drawing on motifs from agricultural work and “women’s work:” sewing, carding wool, spinning thread, scything grass, and making hay. Taranta aspires to commune with the ancient roots of female experience, underlining the enduring relevance of female rage.
