โ€œKanakiyostโ€ was filmed in Mississauga by director-producer Cathleen MacDonald with the support of a MAC MicroGrant. Cathleenโ€™s films and series have broadcast on Discovery Channel, Superchannel, Animal Planet, CBC, PBS, TVO, Canal D, and internationally.

โ€œKanakiyostโ€ is the story of local artist Lynn Taylor (Oneida name, Kanakiyost). As an urban Indigenous person and the child of a residential school survivor, Lynn felt isolated from her community. She turns those feelings into a grassroots group for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to move forward in a positive way.

This film feels like a warm hug that will change how you think about the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Don’t miss it.
