$76,500 OTF Grant Brings Free Performances to Mississauga Libraries

Mississauga, ON – On Wednesday, local MPP Rudy Cuzzetto joined Frog in Hand Productions at Port Credit Library to celebrate a $76,500 Seed grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The funds supported the creation of “Dancing in the Library,” a community-based initiative bringing free, interactive dance performances to libraries across Mississauga. Launching this June, the project will include fifteen performances designed to connect movement with storytelling, reading, and shared community experiences.
“Frog in Hand has been enriching our community for years, bringing people together through creativity, storytelling, and the arts,” said Rudy Cuzzetto, MPP for Mississauga—Lakeshore. “Our government is proud to support their Dancing in the Library initiative through a $76,500 Ontario Trillium Foundation Seed Grant. By bringing free performances into local libraries, this project is making the arts more accessible and creating new opportunities for residents of all ages to connect, learn, and participate. I’m grateful to Colleen Snell and the entire Frog in Hand team for their outstanding contributions to our community.”
With this grant from OTF, Frog in Hand Productions has developed six original dance works inspired by literary themes and the act of reading. The project supports local artists while making dance more accessible by bringing performances into familiar community spaces. Each event invites audiences to engage not only as viewers, but as participants through guided movement, discussion, and conversation.
“By taking dance outside the theatre and bringing it directly into community spaces like libraries, we’re creating opportunities for people to experience it in a more personal and accessible way,” said Colleen Snell, Artistic Director of Frog in Hand Productions. “These performances are designed to spark curiosity, encourage participation, and connect people through shared creative experiences,” added Alice Cavanagh, Project Coordinator.
