Pictured are Micro Grant winner, DECHEN YEE (author), and project co-lead LEO DIAS (visual artist).
The name of the event, ‘STRINGS ATTACHED’ alludes to the creative spirit that is common to all art forms, be it literary, visual or musical.
Dechen and Leo have assembled teams of talented writers, artists and musicians to unleash their creative spirit through paint brushes, words and musical notes, and share their creativity with the community.
Date: Saturday – June 7th, 10am – 3pm.
Venue: Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga
Address: 84 South Service Road
This free and accessible event is open to the community, and was made possible by the generous support from the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga (UCM) through the use of their Great Hall and grounds.
Visitors can listen to and interact with authors who will read from their works inside the Great Hall, or watch artists take part in a plein air competition outdoors. Live music performed outdoors by musicians playing the Guzheng (Chinese zither) and the flute, will create a stirring and uplifting atmosphere for artists and visitors to enjoy.
Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of original artworks by Sauga Plein Air Group (SPAG) artists inside the Great Hall.
Once the paintings are completed, winners (by popular vote) will be announced, and draws for fabulous door prizes will also take place.
Come and experience the synergy of Mississauga’s thriving arts community!
This event is a special collaboration between Words of Writers (WOW!), Sauga Plein Air Group (SPAG), and the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga (UCM), with support from Mississauga Arts Council (MAC).
Free parking.
