EDUCATION & PROGRAMMING MANAGER – ART GALLERY OF MISSISAUGA
Hours: 32 hours/week

The Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM) is looking for an energetic and motivated Education & Programming Manager to develop, facilitate and promote the organizationโs community and educational programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Connect art to the public through innovative programs that engage and attract new audiences
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Lead select AGM initiatives in education, learning, and gallery interpretation
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Conceptualize, implement, promote, and evaluate the AGMโs education programming and services for children, youth, adults, and seniors, both in-house and through community outreach
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Analyze post-program and event surveys with other staff for reporting and continuous improvement and tracking
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Research, post expressions of interest, and engage artists and community partners to partner with the AGM in the development and facilitation of AGM programming
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Work with local community groups and schools to develop educational experiences that support the objectives of the program
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Provide exhibition tours to community and school groups
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Work with the Communications Manager to create and promote marketing materials for AGM programming/workshop initiatives
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, oversee the galleryโs front desk ambassador training for the exhibitions and assist with ongoing training
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Work collaboratively across departments to enhance the visitor experience
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Develop and promote self-directed learning opportunities in the gallery
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Working in conjunction with the Executive Director to research public and private grant sources, write proposals and reports to potential individual, corporate, government, and foundation funders
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Respond to queries from artists/community partners and follow up in a timely manner
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Work as part of the gallery team โ participate in staff meetings, training and engagement
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Participate in the supervision of co-op students, interns, and volunteers as required
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Supports the Operations Manager by acting as the back-up Bingo Coordinator
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Post-secondary education in a related field (arts, arts administration, community arts, art education) or equivalent education and work experience in program management
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Minimum 3-5 yearsโ experience relevant to the position with at least two years in a management role in an artist-run-centre, public gallery, cultural institution or similar charitable not-for-profit visual arts organization
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Ability to assume leadership and take initiative, as well as collaborate with, and support others
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Knowledge and experience with organization and event management/ production, visual arts, multidisciplinary performance and installations
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with the public
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Demonstrated experience working with multiple partners, artists and artistic companies from project conceptualization through to presentation
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Previous experience with budgeting and scheduling for events, as well as contracting for artists and suppliers
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Very strong written and oral communication skills
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Ability to use computers and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva are considered an asset
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Ability and willingness to work outdoors and in new and emerging venues
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Ability and willingness to work outside of typical office hours (evenings and weekends)
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Must have a valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s license and feel comfortable operating a motor vehicle to offsite programs
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Must be able to frequently lift and carry containers weighing up to 25 pounds to move supplies around the gallery and offsite program locations, and be able to maneuver larger, heavier items with assistance or equipment as needed
ยทย ย ย ย ย ย Applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada
