The Woodstock Public Library is set to host an inspiring evening of poetry, art, and conversation with poet, visual artist, and filmmaker Meena Chopra.
Wednesday, October 8, 2025
6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Woodstock Public Library, 445 Hunter Street, Woodstock, Ontario
The evening will feature a 12-minute audio-visual film presentation, where Chopra fuses her poetry with visual art and video, exploring the interplay of light, shadow, words, and colors. Her distinctive approach integrates QR codes within her book, allowing readers to immerse themselves in 78 art video films alongside 44 poems and 80 original artworks.
Chopra’s acclaimed book, Charismatic Chiaroscuro: Poetry & Art, embodies this multi-sensory journey, bridging the world of traditional poetry with contemporary digital art. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in a soul-searching conversation with the author and get their copies signed.
Derived from the Italian term meaning light-dark, “chiaroscuro” represents contrasts that Chopra masterfully translates into emotional and visual layers of experience. Her work reflects decades of artistic evolution — from early oil paintings like Reflection (1987, exhibited at Gallery Aurobindo, New Delhi) to digital transformations paired with poetry and multimedia explorations.
The Woodstock Library event promises to be more than a reading — it is an immersive festival of words, art, and imagination, inviting audiences to reflect, engage, and experience creativity in new dimensions.
