From Ontario Creates: 

In collaboration with Telefilm Canada, the Canadian Media Producers Association, and Creative BC, Ontario Creates is organizing a delegation of animation producers to attend MIFA in Annecy, France, June 23-26.

Applicants from across Canada are welcome to apply.

Our valued partners include CASO and the Animation & VFX Alliance of British Columbia.

Application Deadline: March 20, 2026

Purpose:
Ontario Creates and our partners have the goal to increase international coproduction and investment and business opportunities for animation companies. Telefilm Canada leads the robust Canadian presence at MIFA.

Activities for delegates selected will include participation in the Canada activities organized by Telefilm Canada; participation in curated B2B meetings with producers selected by international partners; and a market readiness program with a focus on practical co-production and partnerships to support participating studios engage more effectively, selectively and confidently with European partners. The program includes: two market lead-up seminars with an animation industry expert with a specialization in European partnerships and a two-hour 1:1 session with the industry consultant, Justine Bannister, to help build out your MIFA meeting schedule.

Schedule:
Plan to arrive in Annecy, France by June 22 and depart no earlier than June 26. Please note that accommodations are booked early and at a premium, if you’re considering attending we encourage you to look at options now.

Selection Process:
Up to 12 Canadian producers will be selected to join the mission. Our partners at CASO and the Animation & VFX Alliance of British
Columbia will support the selection of delegates. Producers that have already been selected by broadcasters to attend the Canada pitch session are also welcome to apply.

Selection criteria:

  • Previous experience in international coproductions
  • Suitability of your current slate of projects for international coproduction
  • Clear rationale for participation including your interest in forming partnerships for international coproduction

How to Apply:
Interested producers should submit an application here by 5:00pm ET on March 20, 2026.

The following information is required:

  • Company bio highlighting experience with international coproductions and international markets;
  • a personal bio for the producer participating in the delegation;
  • an overview of current projects including, as appropriate: title, description, target market, format/platform, status of distributor/broadcaster involvement, stage of development, and alignment with the goals of the delegation; and
  • a statement outlining your interest in and objectives for participating in the delegation

Selection and Support:
Selection will be decided by March 27. Ontario producers selected for the delegation will be offered financial support towards travel and accommodation expenses (up to $3000 at max 50% of expenses); producers from other provinces can reach out to their provincial agency for additional information. Please note that selected producers will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
