Mississauga Chamber Singers looks forward to your joining us on Saturday, December 6th when we present our seasonal concert ‘Christmas Joy’.
Featured on this year’s program is the expressively atmospheric ‘In Terra Pax’ by Gerald Finzi, a radiant miniature masterpiece that crowns the English choral tradition. Finzi’s evocative setting includes poetry by Robert Bridges which invites listeners to experience the Christmas message not as distant history, but as a moment of revelation echoing across centuries.
Also on the program is Gustav Holst’s vibrant choral fantasia ‘Christmas Day’. In this spirited medley, you will recognize classics such as “Good Christian Men, Rejoice,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” “The First Nowell,” and “Come, Ye Lofty, Come, Ye Lowly.” Holst cleverly intertwines these carols—sometimes layering them atop one another—to create a dazzling musical conversation that feels both nostalgic and newly minted.
Rounding out the evening, Mississauga Chamber Singers is excited for the opportunity to showcase the rich heritage of Canadian choral composers as they perform the music of Canada’s ‘Dean of Composers’ Healey Willan, and music from composers who were inspired by him.
Tickets for this extraordinary concert are limited, and we encourage you to secure your seats as soon as possible. You can conveniently purchase tickets online through Eventbrite, or by reaching out to individual choristers.
