Two area congregations, St. Paul’s Anglican Church and St. Elias Ukrainian Church plus the Norval Studios & Gallery are hosting this year’s Montgomery Christmas. This local tradition first started in 1993 and quickly became a beloved and much anticipated event in Halton Region and beyond.
Lucy Maud Montgomery and her family lived in Norval from 1926 to 1935 when her husband was minister of the former Norval Presbyterian Church. Locally known as an organizer extraordinaire, Montgomery excelled at uniting people in community endeavours.
This hamlet continues to commemorate this famous and beloved author with special events that pull people together and landmarks, such as the Manse, Caretaker’s Cottage, and LMM Heritage Gardens. Norval is just east of and down the hill from Georgetown on Highway 7, 10 minutes west of Brampton, or a short drive north on Winston Churchill from Mississauga and Burlington, and under an hour west of Toronto Pearson Airport.
