TD Culture Lab Webinar – The Artist Statement: Writing About Your Work | September 21

February 10, 2026 @ 10:43 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Your Artist Statement: What is it? Why do you need one? When do you use it?

Artist Statements are a key piece of how you share your art with grantors, colleagues, audiences, and more. Whether you are describing your new project, or summing up your artistic drive, it is vital to be able to write about you and your art in a way that resonates with the reader.

Join Colleen Snell as she shares her editing checklist and shares examples of working through the artist statement writing process.

Colleen Snell devises and performs collaborative, multidisciplinary, site-specific work. Her creative projects have taken place in parks, theatres, a water fountain, a factory, a conservation area, a sawmill, and in the digital realm (dance films and an original radio play). Colleen’s choreographic tendencies lean toward large-scale ensemble work and stories inspired by science fiction. She is an avid writer, arts advocate and Artistic Director at Frog in Hand.
