Winter Indigenous Social Dance

February 8 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm EST
Free

Join Eagle Spirits of the Great Waters for a Traditional Winter Social Dance led by dancer and instructor Joe Martin of the Grand River Smoke Dancers. The evening will begin with welcomes, introductions, and a smudge. Anyone can participate and no experience is necessary.

The Grand River Smoke Dancers are from Six Nations of the Grand River. They will share and demonstrate a variety of Haudenosaunee social songs and dances. Each social song and dance has a unique story and way to dance. The Grand River Smoke Dancers have presented to the chiefs of Ontario, Brandon Montour and the Stanley cup, Ontario native woman’s circle, Ontario Special Olympics, and many other events, occasions, and celebrations.
