ABOUT THE SHOW

SING! presents the Burlington premiere of three world-renowned SING!-produced short films with a cappella scores by Countermeasure Music along with a live concert from Countermeasure, Canada’s award-winning a cappella touring ensemble. Meet the film directors and cast members at the live Q and A. Each film is a profile in challenge and resilience.

Join them Thursday, March 30 at 8 PM at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

“Be Inspired” is a charming animated film following the real life adventures of athlete Peter Eager as he climbs the treacherous Mt. Lefroy, finishing at the famous Lawren Harris painting of the mountain.

“Long Road to Freedom” stars dancer Linette Doherty and spoken word artist Dwayne Morgan, as they explore the journey of Nelson Mandela and others.

“Overgrown” profiles an elderly hoarder coming to terms with parting with her possessions as she is forced to move.

Interwoven with the films is the Countermeasure concert. Since forming in 2010, Countermeasure has earned standing ovations and critical acclaim worldwide. Countermeasure features 12 of Canada’s top vocal talents, performing vibrant, dynamic and innovative arrangements of pop favourites, classic jazz standards, and original songs. Incorporating innovative live looping, instrument imitation, and vocal percussion, Countermeasure enthralls the audience with their dramatically choreographed shows and flawless harmonies. Led by award-winning composer/arranger Aaron Jensen, the group has shared stages with a cappella giants including Naturally 7, The Swingle Singers and top 40 stars like Corey Hart and Blue Rodeo. Their new project includes working with the Burlington New Millenium Orchestra.
