Full Artist Biography
SUCHARITA MAITRA works in water-colour and mixed media. She is inspired by her travel adventures and an appreciation of beauty everywhere, even in the ordinary. After a successful career in finance at Edward Jones (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.edwardjones.com">www.edwardjones.com</a> ), she decided to embark on another adventure that beckoned her since childhood. Thus began her artist journey in 2020.
Covid times restricted travel and she embraced Zoom online art lessons to awaken her desire to share beauty and emotion through art. These online lessons include courses by Andrew Carter (Elephant Academy UK), Online Zoom workshops by Bonnie Steinberg (Visual Arts Mississauga), Online workshops by Michael Solovyev, demo workshops by Frank Eber, Christopher Gorey, and personal mentorship by Olivia Burdett-Coutts (South African Master Painter).
Her portfolio has been compiled with feeling and a story behind every painting, connecting the viewer with different moments and the emotions felt in that moment. The viewer's imagination can make the ordinary feel extraordinary through her artistic representation.

Sucharita Maitra is a member of the Toronto Watercolour Society (TWS), Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor (CSPWC), Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) and St Louis Watercolour Society (STLWS) USA.
