Shellene Wright, illustrator, recently sat down with us as a part of our HUB Highlights Artist Spotlight Interview Series. Watch now as we learn more about how her linguistic degree helped her work as an illustrator, advice for staying true to yourself and how she found inspiration from her personal experiences, why youth, children and adventurous adults are her main subjects, and what it was like working with American Girl, Harper Collins, and Penguin Random House. She also shares with us more information about an upcoming mural at Peel Children’s Aid Society she is working on as a part of MAC’s Murals with MAC program.

Shellene Wright is an illustrator with a passion for portraying the joys and the trials of life. Her characters are often closely tied to personal experience and explore the themes around hair, faith, and the creative journey. Illustration and storytelling have been one of many avenues that she uses to express her own unique ideas. Having worked with Mattel, Penguin Random House, and numerous commercial projects, her favourite subjects include young adults and children.
